Spelling Bee
I am writing to invite you to the Leduc Black Gold Optimist Club’s 5th Annual Spelling Bee for grade 5 only students. This year’s Spelling Bee will take place on Saturday April 16, 2016 in the Alexandra Program Room of The Leduc Public Library, located at #2 Alexandra Park, Leduc, Alberta at 1:00 pm.
Attached are the contest procedures and a Spelling Words list for your review. The words included in the list will be used in this year's competition (for the difficulty levels 1 - 4). Once all of the listed words are spelled, extra words that the competitors have not seen will be used. If your school is participating, please pass on this list to your students so that they can practice their spelling.
This Spelling Bee is not a school versus school competition but rather a contest between the student entrants competing for individual cash prizes. We offer this program to encourage, promote and advance literacy in youth. Please feel free to contact me on any questions.
For your information, the Leduc Black Gold Optimist Club is a community service club with a focus on youth. I invite you to check out our website at www.leducblackgoldoptimists.com
Please advise us, at your earliest convenience, if your school intends to participate in our 2016 Spelling Bee. This will facilitate our planning. Thank you in advance for your time.
Sincerely,
Brian Wallace – Event Chair
